Sanford (Sam) Gjermo Jr., 82, of Merritt Island, Fla., passed away Friday Jan. 25, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Madison July 19 1930, the son of Sanford and Gladys (Anderson) Gjermo.

He enjoyed living on the waters of Sykes Creek, where he watched the activities of dolphins and manatees, along with the winter conditioning of the UW rowing teams.
He is survived by his son, Steve (Kelly) Gjermo of Merritt Island, Fla.; daughters, Julie (Ben) Gunderson and Samantha Gjermo of Stoughton; five grandchildren; and four great-granddaughters. He is further survived by his sisters, Virginia (Harry) Papcke and Joyce (Roger) Utermark.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Per his request there will be no service. A memorial is being planned for sometime in June in his hometown of Stoughton.
