The Stoughton High School girls volleyball team will play Oregon tonight at 7 p.m. for the Susan G. Odds are Henry and Rebecca Klongland have hit more drives, sank more putts and chipped more shots than their competitors before they ever step onto the course and it’s not because they spend every free second at the local driving range or bounce year round between indoor hitting facilities and country clubs. The Klongland’s chose to forego all that and bring the course to them, building a driving range and putting green (complete with a bunker) on their rural property just south of Stoughton. Stoughton 4, Jefferson 0 Erick Sperloen got the start and worked all seven innings last week in the opening round of the Thursday Night League playoffs as the Merchants rolled, 4-0. Stoughton Home Talent baseball got the opportunity to get very familiar with Whitewater last week, sweeping three games against the visiting Swingers. The oldest player on the Merchants roster, veteran Ron Vosberg provided late-game heroics in all three games.
They play tonight in the Night League playoffs at Jefferson at 7:30, but they still need help to make the Sunday League playoffs.
Mel Dow, the new Athletic Supervisor for Stoughton High School has some large shoes to fill by replacing Rich Reitzner, who retired after 17 years of running the athletic program.

Stoughton Senior Legion head coach Erik Veum has confirmed that the regionals at Stoughton High School have been postponed until tomorrow. They will try and get four games in, starting at noon, and Stoughton is slated to play Milton at 5 p.m.
After the Baraboo tournament, the Stoughton Senior Legion team used many pitchers with regionals only a week away. In a double elimination tournament and playing at least four games in five days to win it all, pitching can be a key.
